Adora + yahoo = no

Adora + yahoo = no, originally uploaded by Lisa Brewster.
Screenshot from my recent banning from Yahoo Live, presumably for violating their TOS due to indecency (I was broadcasting from my bathtub). However, if you view this on Flickr and check the note I added, you will see that this clearly could not have been the case.
Greg Cohn, Director of Market Strategy and Business Developement for Yahoo!, responds on the matter:
Obviously, your head and shoulders are tortuous and defamatory to the highest degree. I will advise our tortuousness review team to keep an eye out for you and your known aliases.
I sincerely hope that the tortuousness review team decides to investigate my case further. I wait with baited breath for their response.

This…is a joke, right? I mean, the Director of Market Strategy and Business Development didn’t *actually* say that to/about you, did he? Then again, maybe it’s good that he did. If someone with such obvious mental deficiencies can rise to Director level at a company like Yahoo, imagine what heights I can achieve.
Come to think of it, what does “tortuous and defamatory to the highest degree” even mean?

Wow… bad PR move on their part. Do they seriously have a “tortuousness review team”?
Their loss. Mogulus is better anyway!

Wow, now that is just insane. I guess just the mere possibility of seeing your nude form is far too much hotness for Y! :)

I may be going out on a limb here, but I think he was being facetious.

I thought about that too, but given his position with the company, it didn’t *seem* like a facetious response. Bu who knows, my sarcasm meter’s been on the fritz lately. If so, hey…egg on my face. =)

“Tortuous” means devious or winding. I believe he meant “torturous.”

Of course I’m being facetious. I met Greg at the TechCrunch party last week and told him about what happened. He’s very kindly forwarded on my request to the Live team, but his initial reply on facebook was so hilarious that I asked him if it was ok to post it publicly. I figured it would be pretty obvious that Yahoo isn’t quite THAT evil, but I guess others have a more fluid opinion. =]
I certainly want to raise some issues here, but I don’t want to cause a big stink with Yahoo. I see them becoming an increasingly important repository for social capital, which makes it even more critical to know exactly what rules they want us to play by.

Like I said, sarcasm-meter is definitely busted. Ah well, chalk one up for obliviousness. =)

I assumed he meant ‘tortious’
